Torey Salyer Photography » Fall in love all over again.

Alex is the husband of a dear friend of mine. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is charming, charismatic, and driven. He is an avid bike rider for the U of A and loves Sabino Canyon. He is an amazing husband and loving father. And he also suffers from the life long effects of a traumatic brain injury. Here’s his story…

On April 22nd, 2009, while playing at the neighborhood pool with friends, his life would change forever. Alex jumped off of the roof into the pool and missed. He hit his head on the side of the pool, knocking himself unconscious and falling into the water. His injuries included two skull fractures, multiple subarachnoid hematomas, he had blown his right pupil of the eye and had bleeding in the right ear, and broke his wrist in 4 places as well as his scapula. Once inside the hospital, Alex was immediately placed on a ventilator. After a month stay in the hospital, Alex was able to go home. On May 28th, 2009 his friends and family cheered him on as he WALKED across the stage and graduated high school. His recovery was long but his determination and strength were what made him get to where he is today.

This May, Alex will be graduating from the University of Arizona. Alex, you are an inspiration to us all to never give up, always believe in yourself, and be the best person that you can be. Your positive outlook on life is contagious and I hope you know what a blessing you are in the lives of everyone you meet! Congratulations!
